The Clostridium botulinum bacterium produces the purified protein known as BOTOX® Cosmetic. It is a nonsurgical procedure that works on people between the ages of 18 and 65 to temporarily lessen moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. During the procedure, very small doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are injected precisely into the muscles that are the source of those pesky lines. There is typically no recovery time required after the treatment, which takes about 10 minutes. You might notice a change within a few days that could last up to four months. Results could differ.

It functions by preventing nerve impulses from reaching the muscles that are injected, which lowers the activity of the muscles that form those persistent lines.

Nearly 90% of men and women in clinical trials thought their appearance had improved moderately or better one month after treatment. Results could differ.
